Mudgett’s Auto Body was founded in 1980 by Tom Mudgett Sr. He was fresh out of Westminster Vo-Tech, where he studied collision repair and refinishing. He worked on anything at the time repairing cars, restoring older cars, and repairing any collision jobs that he could handle. He prided himself in providing the best quality work and services to the area.

Due to Tom’s vision and work ethic he quickly grew Mudgett’s to 7 employees in the mid 1980’s at his shop in Gamber, MD. By 1989 he needed a bigger facility and he moved to Finksburg, MD into an 8,000 square foot facility where a new down draft heated painting booth was added. Tom’s reputation continued to grow by providing quality repair work and outstanding service. The company started to expand even more to 15 employees and new equipment was being added for frame and welding work.

In 1996, Mudgett’s decided to upgrade even more. He then purchased ten acres by MD Route 140 and began designing plans for a modern building that would be a magnificent collision repair facility.

By 2003, Mudgett’s was finally moved into their current 18,000 square feet building supplied with down draft paint booths, in-ground lifts, modern frame machines, and more.

Today, Tom and Mudgett’s Auto Body employs a large staff consisting of paint technicians, detailers, frame technicians, managers, and other office staff. Mudgett’s is a preferred shop for several insurance companies, provides multiple services for several dealerships in the surrounding area, and providing quality body repair and paint services to customers from Carroll, Howard, Frederick, Baltimore, and Montgomery counties. Mudgett’s also provides services for several Pennsylvania locations.
